Day 67/365: Traditional Way of Cooking Tikoy

The above photo is the traditional way of enjoying your tikoy ~ slice it thinly, dip in egg then fry.  I also cook like cheese stick style ~ slice tikoy like cheese stick and wrap it in spring roll wrapper then fry.

Day 66/365: JSK

My first time to buy this kind of stuff.  I hate to admit but sometimes I feel as if I'm going back to my teenage years.  Like I bought the pens cos I so admire, as in I can say I am a fan of JSK !! Wohoo !! The pens are the only items I could buy.  Perhaps if this time I am a teenager / single or married with no kids?  I would definitely buy items like posters, calendars and other photos ha ha.  Kidding aside, can't imagine myself buying those expensive stuffs cos my hubby will really really get mad at me!

Day 65/365: Champorado

This is one of my favorite breakfast or snacks.  When I make champorado, I only used sticky rice and cocoa powder.  In deep cooking pot, boil 1 cup of sticky rice with at least 4 cups of water.  Stir from time to time until rice almost cooked then add at 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup of cocoa powder according to your preference.  You may add water too while cooking.  Please note that as champorado cools, the water lessens (like it dries up).  Feel free to adjust the servings of your sticky rice & cocoa depending on your needs.  Serve in bowl,  pour your favorite evaporated or condensed milk and add sugar.

Day 64/365: Ube Tikoy

I'm missing tikoy and its been years since I haven't eaten even a slice.  And its past CNY when I first made my homemade tikoy.  I just realized to search for the recipe few days after CNY this year but too lazy to prepare.  But you know, tikoy is a no brainer actually.  It is easy to make and ingredients are so basic.  Only three important ingredients needed - glutinous rice flour, warm water and sugar.  For tikoy recipe please refer to Panlasang Pinoy.

My version, I added a twist.  It's actually Ube Tikoy.  I followed his basic recipe.  Then I just changed the brown sugar to white sugar and added ube flavor / coloring to it.  That's it!! :)

Day 63/365: GNC Apple Cider Vinegar

I've known the benefits of ACV last year when I was searching the natural way of putting down cholesterol and sugar level since I was afraid that mine would be high and I don't want to end up in my annual blood test to have high result.  They say it also helps in weight loss as well.  I tried to drink a tablespoon with water before my meals for less than a month but I stopped.  I often forgot and sometimes I don't like the smell - it has a very strong smell and taste.

But recently I was surprised to learn that there's GNC Apple Cider Vinegar 120 Caps, found out thru twitter (a Phil-Newscaster)  that I'm following.  So there the next day or two, I asked my hubby to buy it for me and he bought 2 bottles (D63, D1 1/Jan/11 project 365).  We are both taking it but then again we forgot sometimes.  But when I continue taking it after meals for few days (not forgetting at all) I noticed that I'm not constipated.  My BM is after three to four days but when taking ACV regularly my BM is every other day.

Day 62/365: Bling-aholic

For sure my blings are not that much compare to others who collects too :))  I dunno how to take photo of my blings since I'm not artistic in showing stuffs and I don't have nice bling hangers either.  As of my Day 62 (01Jan11 as my Day 1 in project 365), above photo were my blings stuffs.  To date, bought few blings again (no update photo) but then realized - its enough!  I should stop buying!! :)) No more buying of blings from now on, or else! :))

Day 61/365: Scarves!!

I heart scarves too!!! To date, I only have 5 pieces.  I want more! As in I would love to collect more!! :))

Day 60/365: CNY goodies at cheap price

I only buy CNY goodies when it is on sale.  They bring the sale out in small Chinese stores after almost a month had passed and that's the only time I buy like the photo above :))

Day 59/365: Oh orange!

I heart oranges.  I like mandarin more cos of its sweetness and less in acidity.  Even more it's easier to peel.  When I was young it was hard for me to distinguish types of oranges, and mandarin was the only thing I found to learned.  Well, the mandarin is actually smaller than others and the shape isn't that round.  Just a note, a friend of my sister once told us when we eat oranges we should also eat the white part, after the orange peel - cos she said the vitamins of the orange is actually from the white part.  I haven't justified if its true but since then I don't remove that part anymore every time we eat oranges.

As oranges are famous source of vitamin C, it has lot of benefits too.  Click here for more details.

Final note via RT "@DailyHealthTips Rinse your mouth after having citrus fruits and lemon as citric acid in these fruits can erode tooth enamel."

Day 58/365: My new hair color

When I bought Revlon Colorsilk Luminista from grocery store, it was just for fun.  There were actually few selections and just randomly picked the box :))  I had gray hair ever since like even before I reached 30yo but now it became obvious since I cut my hair short.

I was happy cos my hubby was the one who colored my hair and the result was great.  I also colored his hair few times already as he have lots of gray hair.

Day 56/365: Ikea Pizza Slice Vegetarian

The Ikea Pizzabitar at 700g cost $5.90.  It is frozen so heating in oven is needed.  The pizza base is thick while the toppings' very thin. It was good and the bread was a bit crunchy.  Overall, it is worth the price and don't expect too much.

Day 55/365: Stomp

This was a fast shot cos I'm not used to taking photos to strangers.  The Autie in this photo carries a lot of grocery bags.  Auntie like her usually put their things beside the vacant seat instead of placing it on their lap or just put it down.  Hmm maybe she doesn't want her things to get dirty? Whatever the case, it's still not a good idea not to share seat especially if there are people standing.

Day 54/365: Ikea Meatballs

When we dine at Ikea resto we don't miss to order swedish meatballs and chicken wings. But we seldom visit Ikea cos it's far from our place so when my hubby happens to have official business near Ikea, he buys frozen 1kg of meatballs at $15.80. It is best to heat it tru oven to get the exact taste.

Day 53/365: Angel Hair

This is my personal favorite - 100% italian durum whole wheat angel hair. Taste great & cooking time is only 6 to 7 minutes.

Capellini (Angel hair)
These thin delicate strands are best if used with thinner, more delicate sauces. They can also be used in soups, salads and stir-fries.

Day 52/365: TV Home Service...

We bought our television almost three years ago.  Recently, we noticed that our screen  had a grayish wave on screen and after an hour the screen turned white, it happened on a weekend.  We called their hotline and did home service on the next working day.  Fortunately, ours is still under warranty.  The service was fast and we're really satisfied.  He replaced the whole panel.

By the way, the grayish wave on screen was a home cable problem.  We returned the old one and got a new box from the cable company.

Sembawang Park

We left the house half past eleven in the morning.  We biked from our place to Sembawang Park were the sun is up and its's really very hot!  We spent few hours there and left the place still very hot around past three in the afternoon.  It was really a tiring day yet we had a good time in the sun :)) Considered this as our pre-valentine's family date! ;)
