Sinigang Fried Chicken

Not long ago, there's an appetizing yet effortless photo from one of the Chef I followed on Instagram.  I've never heard and tried the "Sinigang Fried Chicken."  Based on his post, it really looks delish!!  Yeah, chef's hashtag food-porn are Instagram worthy.  Based on  the name of the dish, I thought the recipe was simple.    Right away, I'd searched for the recipe.   Find a few, so here's  my version of the dish ;-)

Sure-enough, it was easy-peasy!!

You only need:
1x whole chicken, cut into desired pieces;
generous amount of fish sauce;
1x 40g Knorr Sinigang sa Sampalok Mix Original;
Corn flour (available on hand) &
Canola oil for frying

Marinate the chicken with fish sauce and Sampalok mix for an hour.  Before frying, coat chicken with corn flour.

Of course, the flavor was really sour, tamarind hehe.  Initially, my son who is not used to the tamarind flavor especially adding it to the fried chicken, he did not like much.  When I cooked tamarind base soup I only give him a small portion of the soup, that's why.  Anyway, the rest of the family enjoyed the twist.  Update, the next day while he was eating lunch (leftover chix), he told me he already liked the tamarind fried chix!! hehe

Oh wait, just so you know here's the post of the Chef ;-P

Yeah, I have a feeling you are laughing haha, chos!! Cos my version versus his was, aaahh!! Meh?!  Well, please remember "don't judge the book by its cover" haha!! I know the Chef has a secret ingredient and mine was only the obvious.  Anyways.

This dish is worth the try.  Till next time!!

Starbucks: Save the Earth with a Macchiato and a Cup

My second breakfast for the day, yeah!  I usually ordered any from the breakfast menu with Cappuccino, instead I bought their Macchiato so I can buy their re-usable *cup, $3.90 ($2.90 for members).

Please note...
*This recycable cup can be used at least 30 times.  A sleeve is recommended for very hot drinks.  Holds 16fl oz.  Top rock dishwasher safe, hand wash recommended.  Do not microwave.

Though I thought it was a good idea, please keep in mind that the coffee lid sip hole plug stopper do not work on the lid of the reusable cup, probably it will cause a problem, just saying.

Laneige Serum Intense Lipstick Neon Orange YR25

photo credit here

Better late than never...I'm here to join the bandwagon of Jun Ji-hyun from My Love from the Star. Had a chance to watched it last month.  All her outfit, bag, makeup and the like are so fascinating.  Please note though that I cannot buy those expensive stuffs, only makeup.  After watching the episode were she put her lipstick, I searched it and found the particular scene had a lot of screenshots, so it was not hard for me to get the exact brand and shade - Laneige Serum Intense Lipstick Neon Orange YR25.

I learned that it was out of stock island wide during the peak of the drama series.  Since a year had already passed, no hassle for me anymore.

left top & bottom: artificial light; right top & bottom: natural light

I thought I would love it.  Sadly, it didn't worked well for me compare to others.  The formula was unlikely as the Laneige Serum Intense Lipstick in Retro Plum.  The neon orange if applied full, I find that it enhances the line of my lips and looks dry.  This one, I need to apply balm first and I need to scrub my lips too.  On the other hand, it only works for me if I just blot it on my lips or in gradient way otherwise it won't look good on me.

Clean as you go, please!!!

I had a ME-Time with my friends yesterday.  The usual it was a blast!!  Laughing out loud until our tummy hurts! I came home late, so I wasn't able to check things at home. This morning, as I worked myself in the kitchen, I just noticed that my place was not cleaned especially my stove!  Initial reaction,  I was angry while cleaning it up.  Our day was ruined just like that.  This..always happens when I'm out and my family is at home.  How can a hubby learn & the rest... "clean as you go" - so frustrating!!!

"Leave and Cleave"

credits to: Pinterest...

“Therefore a man shall LEAVE his father and mother and shall be joined (CLEAVE) to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.”
About a month ago, a friend of mine shared me a link about "Leave and Cleave" by Richard Poon and Maricar Reyes, husband and wife.  They are both TV personality in the Philippines.

The PERMANENT relationship is the HUSBAND-WIFE. The TEMPORARY relationship is the PARENT-CHILD.
 To leave also means EMOTIONALLY, FINANCIALLY, and PHYSICALLY detach. Some may have left the family home physically, but remained emotionally and financially bound to the family, which creates a lot of resentment within the spouse.
excerpts from Richard Poon.

The article made me rekindled of what I learned from my previous colleague way back before I got married.  She told me something about the "utang na loob" to our parents.  She said that I should try to remember not to practice the Filipino cultural trait "debt of gratitude" to my children when they become adult more-so when they get married.  That future parents should not let their children repay what was done for them.  That there is no obligation to support their parents financially, physically and emotionally.  She emphasized that we (parents) should work hard not just for our children's future but to learn to support our own when we get old and until we die.

With that note, I believed that "Leave and Cleave" coincides with the "utang na loob" that our parents instilled to us.  I can relate to the married couple that are still bound to their parents in particular, financially.  That happened to us early years of our marriage and back then we were still living in our hometown.  It was very difficult during those times.

The Hebrew translation means: to PURSUE HARD AFTER SOMEONE/ being GLUED or STUCK TO SOMEONE.
 This cleaving implies that there should be NO CLOSER relationship than HUSBAND & WIFE, not with any FRIEND or PARENT.
What struck me most is that "cleaving" also implies not just to parents but also with any friend.  This shoot me and made realized a lot of things.  Just to share a few, like how I wanted to travel to visit my best friend (I promised to visit her soon).   Well, my hubby heartily agreed before we bought our very own home.  Because of our new home, our budget is very tight.  Regardless of our financial situation, I kept on bringing up to my spouse what I promised to my best friend.  All the while I thought, my husband is being selfish and not keeping his promise that he will let me travel.  While bringing it up, distress which leads to not talking to each for long fires up all that time.  However, I still insisted him to help me do the papers and the like.  He still helped me, but not wholeheartedly.  During chat with my friend, it showed how she supports her husband now that they are living on their ideal place.   I also felt the bond that we had before has started to ease off.  For that moment, I thought - where do I stand?  Is it worth fighting for?  Oh dear friend, please don't get me wrong... I love her and miss her!! I think of her everyday!  How I wish we are still together, spending more me-time.  I cherished all that we've been through and all that she fought for me.  I will never ever forget that.  I know she wants me to be with her someday, that my family and I would be able to live there too.  With that thought, I was so confined and let my husband feel wretched cos he cannot pursue the life we wanted before.  I cannot accept that time that our life is here, rather I should be contented of what we have right now.  But things changed, now that we are so far and wide.  I am happy for her and I hope she is happy for me too. This, that I only realized how I was with my husband, I was hard on him.   I was missing a best friend but I forgot that my husband was my best-friend long before we get married.  Now, I learned my lesson and I hope things will go well again with my husband.  He is and always be my best friend.  To my dear friend, I hope she understands as well.  Hopefully we will see each other not soon but in years to come.

This, my thoughts exactly.

Happy Heart's Day!!

Happy Heart's Day!!!

To start, we had a family lunch date with kiddos.  Afterwards, my hubby gave me another treat, a foot reflexology at Cheng Kang Spa :-)  This is my first foot reflexology, seriously.  I usually do foot scrub and pedi only.  I tried the one time fee only, cost $GD36 for 40 minutes.  Luckily, even for walk-in customer,  I waited more than 5-minutes only.  Before I came in, the therapist asked me if I like to add the ginger oil for muscle relaxation, additional fee of $GD 5.  Well, I said yes.

On a side note, the wellness is exclusive for ladies only.  Since it's my first time, I prefer the spa that serves only female.  I was also pleased that they have a private room per customer.  She advised me to remove my pants and put a towel then I lay in bed.

Since this is my first time, I cannot compare.  Mostly, I felt pain while she massages me. It was ticklish on some part of my legs.  Overall, I didn't enjoy the foot massage hehe.

Anyway, I came across about the Benefits of Foot Massage  for reference :-P

Fifty Shades of Grey, GV Gold Class Ladies Night

I was so thrilled last night that my friend and I were able to watched the movie Fifty Shades of Grey, first day of showing.  My hubby purchased a ticket from Golden Village Gold Class Ladies Night at Suntec City, as a Valentine treat.  It was a memorable night because it's my first time to watched in Gold Class,  I was with (edit: one of) my best friend, and the important part - the session were strictly for female only, hash-tag-no-awkward-moments :-P

our dessert wine and cake during the movie

To be honest, I won't deny I love the book that's why I was really excited to watch the movie.  Well, for curiosity reason.  I really doubt they can give justice to the book, that's why I don't expect much on the movie.  For the lead actors - I didn't like how they portray the character, absence of passion.  The movie was plot-less, no intense at all, in short the movie was boring.  It could be the worst steamy/porn/romance movie of all time.  If you did not read the book, hundred percent sure you will not appreciate the movie at all, what more for the book fan out there, On the other hand, it would be the other way around.  Update: My friends who did not read the book, loves the movie!!

But then again, I still enjoyed the night not because of the movie but because of the gold class experienced, services provided, the loots given and above all the friend I'm with at that moment.

Laneige x pushButton Serum Intense Lipstick in P42

I just learned about this Laneige pushButton Serum Instense Lipstick when I browsed on the sale items on Luxola a week ago.  Initially, I was mesmerized on the animal print - so pretty and cute, so want want!  I want to buy one, yeah!! Next,  what shade to choose?  I'm eyeing for the plum shade.  So I checked first online for any reviews.  Nothing much, but I found that P42 Retro Plum is the one that stands out.

So happy I bought it, yahoo!!  I feel it brightens my face.  It is true that you do not need a lip balm over this.  I actually do not feel anything on my lips, seriously.  After an hour or so the glossiness' gone yet my lips don't feel dry.  To be honest, I don't know how long it last cos I eat from time to time.   After I eat, it leaves a stain on my lips which I also like.

This is my just woke up face from my afternoon nap.
Woke up as the Luxola guy knocked on our gate.
 In person, the puppy print is so cute!!
I got too excited so tried right away... and see my happiness, haha!!

So now I'm thinking if I should buy the other shade.  Sigh, I just can't stop, GRRR!! :-D
