Fifty Shades of Grey, GV Gold Class Ladies Night

I was so thrilled last night that my friend and I were able to watched the movie Fifty Shades of Grey, first day of showing.  My hubby purchased a ticket from Golden Village Gold Class Ladies Night at Suntec City, as a Valentine treat.  It was a memorable night because it's my first time to watched in Gold Class,  I was with (edit: one of) my best friend, and the important part - the session were strictly for female only, hash-tag-no-awkward-moments :-P

To be honest, I won't deny I love the book that's why I was really excited to watch the movie.  Well, for curiosity reason.  I really doubt they can give justice to the book, that's why I don't expect much on the movie.  For the lead actors - I didn't like how they portray the character, absence of passion.  The movie was plot-less, no intense at all, in short the movie was boring.  It could be the worst steamy/porn/romance movie of all time.  If you did not read the book, hundred percent sure you will not appreciate the movie at all, what more for the book fan out there, On the other hand, it would be the other way around.  Update: My friends who did not read the book, loves the movie!!

But then again, I still enjoyed the night not because of the movie but because of the gold class experienced, services provided, the loots given and above all the friend I'm with at that moment.

Despicable Me

It's a pretty silly movie.  From our crowd last night, the adults had more lol than kids from start to end.  There's scenes that I found a bit offensive...I won't tell here.  Sorry, but I didn't like most of the jokes.  Though I had laughs, but not same with the crowd.  I like when the three lovely kids were in the picture.  Despicable at the beginning and eventually started to change when Gru had moments with with the kids.    I like the moral story though, it's quite interesting.  Majority found it great!  Movie as a whole fits for adults, not for kids.

Remember Me

I watched Remember Me from a free movie site while my son was taking a nap and my daughter in school.

Based on the trailer, I thought it was not good.  (Now, I've learned my lesson).   I never read the updates only til today that I accidentally read comments about the movie.  I was actually surprised.  The story was an emotional roller-coaster ride.  All the actors did great especially Pattinson as Tyler.  His acting was so different compare to Twilight saga.  His role was serious and real.  Great job Rob!

Twilight Saga: Eclipse

To be honest and it's not that I'm defensive, I'm not a fan, as in a fan of twilight saga.  Hmm,  I've read the first installment through my friend's book, I liked it so I bought my copy.  Then watched the first movie on DVD.  For curiosity purposes, I bought the rest of the books.  Since I've read all the books, I should see the rest of the movies too, wehehe.  Just like that, gets? *ahem*

With regards to the book, it were all good read to me and the last two series are my favorites.  For the movie, Twilight was okay, New moon was a disappointment.  For the Eclipse movie? It was nice,  far better than the previous installments.   I think the director did an excellent job.  Make-up for the vampires had improved.  Acting wise, it was better too.  Its like this, if you are like me or a twilight saga fan, watch the movie.  If not, don't waste your time and money and add up to negative reviews.

Please do not fail to watch this with your family and love ones! The best animated trilogy ever!!  Watch the movie and buy DVD, really worth it!!!

Killers

Spencer Aimes (Kutcher) is just your average, undercover, government-hired super-assassin accustomed to a life of exotic European locales, flashy sports cars and even flashier women. But when he meets Jen Kornfeldt (Heigl), a beautiful, fun-loving computer tech recovering from a bad break-up, he finds true love...and happily trades international intrigue for domestic bliss. Three years later, Spencer and Jen are still enjoying a picture-perfect marriage - that is, until the morning after Spencer's 30th birthday. That's when Spencer and Jen learn he's the target of a multi-million dollar hit. Even worse, the hired killers have been stalking the happy couple for years, and could be anyone: friends, neighbors, the grocery store clerk, even that crabby old guy shuffling across the street. Now Spencer and Jen are on the run for their lives. As their suburban paradise turns into a paranoid game of dodge-the-bullet, they must find out who wants Spencer dead and why, all the while trying to save their marriage, manage his in-laws, keep up neighborly appearances ... and just plain survive. Written by Lionsgate
Heigl can really be funny.  Overall,  I really like her.  She's a very good actress, so I hope she can do a drama movie some time.  Kutcher did good, I also like him in comedy as his voice sounds funny to me :P It was quite entertaining :D

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

We watched this movie with the thought that my kids would enjoy it.  (I know its not really the movie for my kids' age).   It turned out it was not that enjoyable to them even with full of action.  I haven't seen the video game so no idea of the story except for the trailers I've seen on television.  For me, the action scenes and special effects are quite entertaining.  The actors did pretty well especially the lead stars...both good looking, like it ;)  There's a scene when Dastan was a just a kid, his stunts resembles the cartoon movie Alladin.:d

Well, just don't expect too much before you watch so you won't get disappointed.

Shrek Forever After

We are suppose to watch this tomorrow but when we pass-by on one of the Tampines mall on our way home after a friend's visit (forgot the name of the mall) just to buy a popcorn, my son insisted to watch the movie.  Good enough, we're just on time on the schedule and enough seats for the family.

About the movie, the actions for kids and the jokes for adults.  My case, I didn't enjoyed that much.

The trailer of the movie seems nice.  I also like the background music.   Hope I get to watch it ;-)

Just watch the movie, its definitely NOT a waste of time and money :-)

Toy Story 3: Lots-o'-Huggin' Bear

A clip from the upcoming final movie Toy Story 3.  Woody and friends were donated in day-care center as Andy is heading off to college.  They've met new characters like Ken doll and Lotso, the "Lots-o'Huggin' Bear".

Release date of Toy Story 3 on 18 June 2010.

A big buzz on Lotso whether the toy really exist in 1983.  I'm 10yo that time...I can't remember anything on Lotso hi hi.

A fake commercial on Lotso?? Tsk Tsk.

Hmm, whatever the issue is, we will definitely watch the movie!!   :-D

Dear John

Directed by Lasse Halstrom and based on the novel by best-selling author Nicholas Sparks, "Dear John" tells the story of John Tyree (Channing Tatum), a young soldier home on leave, and Savannah Curtis (Amanda Seyfried), the idealistic college student he falls in love with during her spring vacation. Over the next seven tumultuous years, the couple is separated by John's increasingly dangerous deployments. While meeting only sporadically, they stay in touch by sending a continuous stream of love letters overseas-correspondence that eventually triggers fateful consequences.
I'm a crybaby but on this film...I didn't cried at all.  Seems I wasn't able to connect with the characters.  Acting wise - not convincing.  But I like the songs especially the 3 songs I grabbed from YouTube.

The Bounty Hunter

The Bounty Hunter

Milo Boyd (Gerard Butler), a down-on-his-luck bounty hunter, gets his dream job when he is assigned to track down his bail-jumping ex-wife, reporter Nicole Hurly (Jennifer Aniston). He thinks all that's ahead is an easy payday, but when Nicole gives him the slip so she can chase a lead on a murder cover-up, Milo realizes that nothing ever goes simply with him and Nicole. The exes continually one-up each other – until they find themselves on the run for their lives. They thought their promise to love, honor and obey was tough – staying alive is going to be a whole lot tougher. Andy Tennant (Hitch, Sweet Home Alabama) directs.

I thought it's a nice movie because of Gerard Butler and Jennifer Aniston.  There were scenes that made me giggle.  But the story is not nice.  It's quite boring.  Overall, it's not a good movie to me :-(

Julie & Julia

Julie & JuliaAn overdue post.  I said to myself, if I have a public blog, I would like to have Julie & Julia movie in it.  Yes, like everybody else, I also love the movie.

At first, I'm just interested in the movie because of Meryl Streep.  I like her so much.  Her acting is so likable.  She always portrays her character really very well.  But I both don't know Julia Child and Julie Powell.  I do collect cook books when I was working, sad to say I didn't came across on her book Mastering the Art of French Cooking (2 Volume Set).  Anyhow, I've left my heavy cook books at home and just brought few booklet type abroad.

I enjoyed the movie so much cos its about food & cooking.  I heart food and cooking.  So interesting to see when they eat!  Actually, I like movies when actors really eat, not just playing on utensils.

But almost at the end of the movie, there's a hanging question on why Julia Child hated Julie Powell's blog?  Intriguing huh? Well, it turns out there's a lot more than the movie.  I was quite surprised on  the story behind it.  It seems that what we've felt on Julie Powell's character in the movie is opposite of the real character.  Okay, don't want to rule out the issue on my blog.

With regards to Julia Child, I'm interested to have her books like My Life in France (Illustrated Edition)[Rough-Cut Edge] by Julia Child and  Julia's Kitchen Wisdom: Essential Techniques and Recipes from a Lifetime of Cooking.

Eat, Pray, Love

I bought this Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert a year ago.  As I recall, I had my personal issues that I would like to dealt with and thought this book would help me.  Didn't have time to finish the book.  For me, her travel to countries seems dragging, what struck me though was her self-inquiry.  When I came to her self question, I pause - asking myself too.  I forgot that my pause had been a long stop then forgot about it, tsk.  Recently,  I just saw the big poster of the book cover in cinema.  So it's now made to film starring Julia Roberts.  Wow, I love Julia Roberts! So better start reading the book again.

How To Train Your Dragon

Better not miss this animated movie.  Adults and children will surely love this!!

We loved it, my kids enjoyed the movie.  The effects are amazing.  Great and funny story.  Very nice touch on friendship, relationships and true courage.  How 'bout a dragon as a pet? cos..."Everything we know about them is wrong."   Full of excitement from start till end, especially the part when Hiccup takes his first ride on Toothless.  The best animated movie I've ever seen!

A must see movie for all ages!!
