Blogger Template Designer

Have you tried the Blogger Template Designer?  It’s been few weeks since I’ve used the new feature.  At first I was apprehensive cos I know my blog design like the fonts for my title post and sidebar, the FavIcon, and other designs will not show up anymore.  I know I’ll be missing the scrapbook background and header too.

I played it at first.  Anyway, I saved my old template just in case I want to go back and everything’s been back up.  All their designs are good, many template and background to choose from, the selection was a bit hard.  But in the end it was good.  Change is good, I like it.  It’s fun playing with the new features…

templates My present template is 'simple' with white background.

Once you’ve chosen a new template, proceed to background.  From there you can change the color or the picture for your header.

In 'layout' - you can modify the 'body layout', 'footer layout', and can adjust the entire width of your blog and sidebar.

Last step, the 'advance'.  Another better feature cos you can change the font and color of your page from page text, header to post footer.

advanced

Then I tried playing with the html.  I tried inserting my previous CSS to change the post title font, it worked! Yay!! Next, I added the CSS for FavIcon, it worked too, wee! And the rest, unsuccessful.  Anyway, the post title font and my favicon are the most important!! Note that new share button and blogger video are enabled on the new blogger template.

Try it yourself! :)

How to make your FavIcon to show up

To update my post on FavIcon, I just found a site that resolves the problem on favicon not showing up on Internet Explorer.  The link is free hosting, no worries :P

Go to IconJ, or click -  FavIcon Hosting and Icon Generator. Just click image to enlarge.

You can upload your image file in gif, png, jpg, bmp, ico (less than 1mb) to generate the favicon.

Copy the code from the site.

From 'edit HTML' of your Blogger, refer to the image.  Just below the 'head', delete the part I encircled . . .

and replace it with the code you copied from IconJ. 'Preview', if not okay ' Clear Edits'.  If okay 'Save Template' :P

I suggest you create an account, anyway its free.

It worked now with IE and also works with Google chrome even in Splashtop browser from Lenovo Quick Start :P  Note, it's possible that you might not see your icon right away, it may take a while.  Just wait, be patient.  Refresh browser, clear your cache is recommended.

Please send me message if it worked for you or not.  Better, comment here if you found other better works for FavIcon :)

Tutorial on Favicon and Navigation Bar for Blogger

This afternoon I was busy on  trying to change my favicon or website icon and adding a navigation bar on my blogger.  For the meantime, I cropped the icon from my signature cos I don't have an image yet for that purpose.  I should make one soon.

I found the tutorial from Jenieshell.  Another amazing site!! She got lots of tutorials for blog design.  I also learned from her site about the navigation bar.

I should try to find an image for my navigation bar soon :) For now, simple navigation bar will do :P

Check her site! :-)

Note: I just noticed that my new website icon is not showing in IE, tsk. And my navigation bar font didn't show up in other PC, tsk.  Still need to work things out.

How to use a cute font for your blogger post titles & others

I am a fan of blog themes.  I want to change my blog theme/background from time to time.  What amazed me most are the scrapbook blog and the cute fonts.  I'm so glad there's a lot of freebies' site for blog background.  Please refer to my sidebar.    Aside from the blog skin, I was curious of how they changed their fonts cos I want it too :P.  Googled it, and on the google top list is the site of Kevin and Amanda.
I get the cutest scrapbooking fonts at Free Scrapbook Fonts! kevinandamanda.com/fonts

Their blogs are so amazing!

I followed her very detailed tutorial and so happy that I did it! I just didn't changed the font for the date cos I like the way it is.  What I just like to change are the post titles and sidebar titles.

If I have my free time, I would try to make my own digiscrap blog background with the help of Amanda's blog!  Already excited! hi hi

Signature

I am a fan of signature on blogs, love it.  I've been using this signature, it's actually a two image I grabbed from my Photobucket files.

I now made my very personalized signature for my page. This is my handwriting done from one of my iPhone apps.

If you're interested in having one in your blog, just follow this instruction:

  1. If you already have a signature image, just upload that image in your Photobucket.
  2. Get the HTML code of the image.
  3. In your dashboard, click "Layout", then go to "Settings" and finally to "Formatting".
  4. Below you will see "Post Template", there you will paste your HTML code, then save.  This means that everytime you create a "New Post" the image/html code will appear.
  5. Just customize the image from there.
